Ladies Introduction to Carbine (8 HRS)

Note: To attend this class, at a minimum, you must know and should be able to follow at all times the 4 Cardinal Rules of Firearms safety.

Description

This 8-hour class is designed for women who are brand new or beginner-level carbine shooters. It will cover the fundamentals of marksmanship, including safety, sight picture, and trigger press. Students will become familiar with loading, reloading, zeroing, slinging, clearing malfunctions, and engaging targets out to 50 yards. Ladies will leave the class feeling confident in their understanding of how a carbine functions and how to shoot it safely.

Equipment Needed

  • Serviceable semi-automatic AR-15 style carbine

  • Carbines already zeroed are preferred. We will confirm a 50-yard zero in this course.

  • Quality belt with at least 1 magazine pouch. Must be able to retain 2 magazines on your body in pockets or magazine pouches

  • 3 magazines of 30 round capacity (minimum)

  • 250 rounds of dependable ammunition (minimum). No steel core, no armor piercing, no tracer.

  • At least 2 liters of water for hydration

  • Snacks for throughout the day

  • Lunch – we will take a break, but there is no place to go get lunch nearby.

  • Eye protection

  • Hearing protection (electronic recommended)

  • Baseball cap

  • Closed-toe shoes or sneakers (no sandals)

  • Sunscreen

  • Bug spray

  • Wipes / hand sanitizer

  • Notebook and pen

  • Low-cut shirts are not recommended (hot brass is no fun!)

  • Rings and very long fingernails are not recommended

  • Lunch is not included. Please bring your own.

  • It's highly recommended to bring a chair.

  • This is an outdoor range, so the only restrooms are Port-A-Johns.

About the Instructor - KARLA H

Karla has competed since 2007 in the sports of USPSA, 3-gun, and the Tactical Games. She has shot in over 50 major 3-gun matches, and is a two-time 3-Gun Nation Ladies Pro Series competitor. Karla is a 5-time Tactical Games Women’s Division champion, where athletes’ shooting skills are tested under the pressure of a variety of fitness challenges. Karla has been a CrossFit athlete for 10 years, and has competed at the national level in Olympic weightlifting. She is a federal employee with over 15 years’ experience supporting Department of Defense and State Department missions. Karla has completed five overseas deployments in the CENTCOM AOR, including two as the J2 of a Joint Special Operations Task Force.
