Patrol Carbine (2 DAYS)
Prerequisites: This is a Law Enforcement Only Class
Description
This two-day course is designed to develop and refine the defensive use of the patrol carbine (AR platform 5.56/.223) for law enforcement officers. The program emphasizes efficient gun handling, strong marksmanship fundamentals, and practical application of the carbine in operational law enforcement environments.
Day 1 – Fundamental Patrol Carbine Skills (Daylight)
The first training day focuses on establishing and reinforcing the core fundamentals of carbine marksmanship and manipulation. Officers will review equipment setup, safe and efficient weapon handling, and the principles that support accurate and accountable shooting. Instruction progresses from foundational marksmanship to increasingly demanding drills designed to improve recoil control, target engagement, and efficient weapon manipulation. Emphasis is placed on executing the fundamentals correctly while applying the appropriate level of speed required in defensive situations.
Day 2 – Low Light Patrol Carbine
The second training day focuses on deploying and operating the patrol carbine in reduced-light environments. Officers will review key fundamentals before progressing into low-light shooting techniques, proper use of weapon-mounted lights, and target identification in limited visibility. Training will also include shooting in and around cover and barricades, rifle retention concepts through sling use, and considerations for deploying and managing the carbine as part of an arrest team.
This course is structured to build confidence and competence with the patrol carbine while reinforcing the fundamentals necessary for safe, efficient, and accountable firearm use in both daylight and low-light conditions. Training emphasizes practical skills relevant to real-world law enforcement engagements.
